These values have been part of the DNA and foundation of the Lavazza family's business since 1895; for four generations. 'No concessions on quality' was a phrase coined by Luigi Lavazza, the founder of the renowned coffee brand.

The current generation, Emilio Lavazza, explains how Lavazza does business from the heart. Lavazza was built with this philosophy. The employees are its strong foundation, but there is more that sets the brand apart. In fact, Lavazza helps the surrounding area develop a better living environment with consideration for the environment, working conditions and habitat.

Lavazza recently opened a completely carbon-neutral office in Turin. Besides this fantastic workplace, a museum and a sustainable restaurant opened here where Lavazza employees and the immediate area can learn about gourmet dishes from around the world.

All these qualifications ensure that Lavazza demonstrates day-in-day-its highest standards in sustainability.  In the production of

premium coffee, globally and in terms of social responsibility towards the earth and its inhabitants.

The history of Lavazza | Luigi Lavazza was an Italian retailer born in Murisengo, a small town in the province of Turin (Piedmont).

In 1895, Luigi Lavazza bought a small grocery shop, Paissa Olivero, in Turin’s old town. He paid the sum of 26,000 Italian Lira, about 16 euros. At this time, these shops were used for both retail and production purposes. Coffee was just one of the many products Luigi Lavazza sold in his shop. Back then, coffee beans were bought raw and then roasted to customers' liking.

This soon sparked the interest of Luigi Lavazza, who was one of the first to mix different types of coffee to create a blend. With this, Luigi Lavazza quickly made a name for himself in Turin and the surrounding area. With his knowledge and skills in making blends, and using different roasts, Luigi Lavazza was soon able to stand out from the other local coffee roasters.
